Concerning Them Which Are Asleep…

I Thessalonians 4: 13-14 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Nancy and I will be doing the Memorial Service of a family member this week in California. It was a great loss for her family and to us as extended family.  However, Linda was a strong Christian and we know where she resides.  Her death takes me back to the verse we have chosen today.  The apostle writes to make sure we are not as so many in our world at such times. We are not to sorrow as those who have no hope.

As we participate in the Memorial Service, our hearts, though saddened by Linda's death, will also rejoice because we know that she is with her Saviour. She is in the presence of God through Jesus Christ. Death for the believer is not intended to be a fearful event. It is a coronation. It is a fulfilled promise of an eternal home in the heavens that Jesus himself has prepared for all the saints.

Linda will be missed by all of us, but we know where she is and we look forward to seeing her again!

Keep Looking Up!
