Priority #3 Believe In Yourself!

The acceptance of who you are is a very important part of your foundation. As many have said we must become comfortable in our own skin. The question is how do you we do that.  There are many things that keep us from feeling comfortable about ourselves.  These things can include:

  • Our appearance
  • Our life experience
  • Our social skills
  • Our perception of what others think of us

Even the sound of your voice or the place where you live can cause you to have trouble accepting yourself. We need to realize that those are all external influences that must not be allowed to influence our self concept.

Fanny Crosby was born in 1820 in Putnam County, New York. She was blind either as the result of a congenital defect or even possibly because of an ill advised medical procedure to treat a cold when she was only six weeks old.  Her father died the same year she was born.  There was no great expectancy for the success of a blind little girl in the 1800’s.

Yet Fanny Crosby became know as the “Mother of modern congregational singing in America” and one of the most prolific hymnists in history, writing over 8000 hymns, with over 100 million copies of her songs printed.

Fanny Crosby accepted her limitations and did not let them hinder her talents. She died in 1915 but her songs are sung in churches through out the world even now .

There are certain things about our lives we cannot change. However if we will accept our circumstances as merely a challenge along life’s path we can overcome even the greatest trials and we can meet our goals.  Don’t give up! Accept who you are and reach for your success.

Keep Looking Up!
