…Set My Feet Upon A Rock…

Psalm 40:2-3 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

What a great word of encouragement from the Psalmist! Life at times seems to throw us into what seems to be a bottomless and yes horrible pit. The pit may originate from all kinds of sources. At times you may face unemployment, emotional attacks from friends or even family, accidents that disrupt our everyday rituals, or the words of a doctor saying we have an incurable ailment or disease.

The horrible pits of life can come as a complete surprise. They arise out of nowhere and totally dismay us and in our own human strength we struggle to climb out of the hole.  Many times it seems there is no way we can survive. However, as a believer in the power of God and His love for us, we do not have to depend on our own abilities.

The writer of the Psalm points us to God and His willingness to bring us comfort and deliverance in the times of the pit. He brings us out, even when we cannot see how we can survive. He sets our feet on a solid rock. His name is Jesus.

Whatever crisis you may be facing, God can reestablish your life and put a new song in your heart. .Let the words of the Psalmist be your encouragement today. If you are in a good place, rejoice in the blessings of the Lord. If you are in the pit lean on the Lord and call on Him to lift you up and set your feet on the rock. He has done it for me at times and I know He will do it for you.

Keep Looking Up,
