Thou Shalt Be Saved, And Thy House…

Acts 16:31 -34 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

To those who know the Bible this is a familiar scripture. Paul and Silas because of their preaching of the gospel and the casting out of an evil spirit were beaten and thrown into prison. Sitting in stocks in the inner prison at midnight Paul and Silas began to sing praises unto the Lord. An earthquake shook the prison and Paul and Silas were set free. Here we find the declaration of our text.

In answer to the jailor's question "What must I do to be saved?" Paul and Silas tell him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and he will be saved and his house.  God can turn the most difficult circumstances into great blessing. Paul and Silas even in their distress did not forsake their faith. Instead they praised God and God intervened.

He not only shook the prison with an earthquake, He set Paul and Silas free and saved the jailor and his family. Our problems may not seem as extreme,as those of Paul and Silas, but God is still the same. He can intervene for us. He will bring his deliverance when it looks like all resources have failed us. In a single word he can set us free from our worries and our fears. Our Lord can even use the temporary trials we go through to save those for whom we have been praying, even the members of our own families.

Our God is a deliverer. He saves us when the world is doing its worst! Don't be ruled by life's circumstances but trust in the power of His all almighty name. The is no other name on earth like His!

Keep Looking Up

Dan
