Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus!

Heb 12:2 KJV – 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

As we look at the verse for today, I am reminded of an old Hymn of the church. We sing the chorus quite often but most are not familiar with the verses.

Verse 1

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

The Chorus is known to most of us:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

My heart is warmed this morning as I think of this old Hymn written in 1922. The words remind us that we have a wonderful Lord who cares for our needs. Even when we are weary and troubled, we can look in His face and feel the burdens grow lighter.

This morning whatever is in your life, turn your eyes upon Jesus!

Keep Looking Up,
