We Honor Our Brave Men and Women!

2Sa 23:15-17 KJV – 15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which [is] by the gate!

16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that [was] by the gate, and took [it], and brought [it] to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: [is not this] the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

Yesterday was December 7, Pearl Harbor Day. None of us should ever forget one of the saddest days in the history of our nation. As our nation was attacked and many lives were lost as our Navies ships were devastated and we were forced to respond in World War II.

In our text for today, three of King David’s mighty men retrieved him water from the well of Bethlehem. After David was given the water he refused to drink it. He respected the risk that the men had taken to get the water for him.

II Samuel 23:17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: [is not this] the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

We should give no less respect to those who paid the supreme sacrifice for our freedoms. Many went to war and many did not return. They died on various islands and battlefields.

Though many years have passed their willingness to defend and even die for our country should not be forgotten. Let us remember Pearl Harbor and the brave men and women who served to preserve our nation.

O God we honor such brave men and women.

Keep Looking Up,

Dan
