Joy Comes in the Morning

Psalms 30:5 KJV – For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favour [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.

I found myself sitting at the airport in Denver, Colorado several years ago. I was delayed because of a problem with the plane I was supposed to be boarding to fly to Tulsa Oklahoma. It was urgent that I get there because my Father was near death. The delay turned out to be over two hours. I was heavy in my heart but somehow knew that God was in control. It was a difficult night and when I arrived the whole family that lived in Tulsa was there to meet me. I knew when I saw them I was too late because no one was at the hospital with Dad. He was in  the presence of the Lord he served.

I had regret that I did not get there in time to express final thoughts of the love and respect I had for Dad. But  the words of the Psalmist ring true in such times…”weeping may endure for the night”. The circumstances of our lives may make it seem like we are always just a little too late. The sadness  of our failures often try to rob us of the joy that God wants us to have in our hearts. However, we have the promise that “joy cometh in the morning”. We are all susceptable to the hurts and disappointments of life but in our faith there is a deliverance. As you face this day do not let your circumstances dictate your life but grab the joy that God has promised and let laughter break through the tears.
