God has not Promised…

God has not promised skies always blue, Flower-strewn pathways all our life through; God has not promised sun without rain, Joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God has promised strength for the day, Rest for the labor, light for the way; Grace for the trials, help from above, Unfailing sympathy, undying love.          Source Unknown

Most of us are familiar with the little poem we just quoted.  We do not know our future.  What the next day will bring or the next is a mystery to us.  This morning looks like it will bring a great day.  However, there is no guarantee that the circumstances of the day will be good.  One telephone call, an unexpected happening, can change a day into a nightmare.

My wife and I have faced some difficult times in the last ten years particularly.  We have seen the death of loved ones and I was at Nancy’s side in the hospital when she suddenly stopped breathing after a routine surgery.  It was a frightening thing as the nurse called “code blue” and everyone came running to administer CPR and try to get her breathing again.  I thank God that the procedures worked and she recovered without any lasting damage to her system.

I am glad in that time that I could lean upon God and he did not leave me alone.  Remember what ever you face today,  you can call upon God and he will be with you as well.  It is his promise!

Psa 18:2  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psa 18:3   I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised…

Keep Looking Up,
