Secure the Sepulchre…

Matthew 27:62-66 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

Resurrection Day or Easter Is a very special celebration for the churches that accept the declarations of the Bible concerning Jesus death and his coming out of the grave. From our scripture we see the nonbelieving priests and Pharisees recognizing the declaration by Jesus that he would die but that He would rise again on the third day after his death. These religious leaders were so concerned that Jesus body would disappear( in their opinion be stolen) that they had the tomb sealed and guarded.

Yet we see the reports of the scripture and of the believers who followed Jesus that His body did disappear from the tomb! It was not because His body was stolen but Christ did as He said. He arose from the dead. He was the first fruits of life that we also might have life. Because He is risen, we also will rise from the grave.

Easter is always a reminder of our salvation and of our own resurrection as our Lord comes back to receive us unto Himself. Rejoice in the truth of this great celebration! He is alive and all the efforts of the priests and the Pharisees could not keep Him in the tomb!

Keep Looking Up!
