Things Which Make For Peace…

Romans 14: 17-19 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

The verse for today deals with the main concerns of our society.  Men and women want to feel secure and know from where their next meal is coming. God's concern is not centered on that. He wants us to have righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. As men and women try to  provide for their own security, we  live in a world that is full of conflicts. Those who seem to have much such as we have here in the United States battle with the nations that have not. Even within our own nation there is fighting between those who seem to have an abundance and those who have not.

The truth is that man no matter how much abundance he accumulates is never satisfied. Poor or rich it seems that man is always fighting for more. The story is told of a rich man who was asked,"How much is enough?"  He answered, " Just a little bit more!"  When God is in control it is not that way. In Him the heart is full and can find rest. We can find that joy that is beyond happiness when we have relationship with Him. Relationship with God gives us peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

There is nothing wrong with trying to improve the life that we are living. However, do not let your goals be a frustration. Put your trust in God and let Him help you reach for success. If we live righteously, God will bless us with the things that are really meaningful in life. In Him there is righteousness, peace, and joy as His Holy Spirit dwells within us.!

Keep Looking Up,
