Walk Humbly…

Micah 6:6-8 With what shall I come before the LORD,
And bow myself before the High God?
Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,
With calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,
Ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

Have you considered lately how you approach God in prayer? How about in your daily activities? In our verses for today are the principles upon which God wants us to base our approach to Him and the actions of every day. We are asked the question "With what shall I come before the Lord?". The answer is that He does not want multitudes of sacrifices for our sins He wants our lives to exemplify Him.

The key words are in verse 8. The Lord wants us to do justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him. It is so easy to do the things we want in our  lives and then to go to the Lord in repentance for the things we do that are wrong. God prefers our obedience more that our sacrifice.(Proverbs 21:3)

The verses speak to the problems of our time. The selfishness of the hour does not produce justice and many times denies mercy. We are elevated by our own ideas and do not walk humbly with God.

God does not give us a  long list of rules, but wants us to be just and merciful. He wants us to lay aside our pride and prejudice and to walk humbly with Him.

Keep Looking Up!
