Who Knows What a Day May Bring?

Do not boast about tomorrow. For you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

I have plans for today and I am sure that most of you who read this post do as well. We rise in the morning and we expect that our plans will be fulfilled. We are going to go to work, or we are going to enjoy a day of relaxation. It is just the way it is. After all it is our life and we have the right to make our plans.

However, the reality is that we do not know what a day will bring. I was in a sound sleep when the phone rang and the voice on the other end changed the plans for my coming day. A dear friend was being life flighted to a hospital so that he could receive the necessary care. Instead of going to the office, my day was spent in the hospital with my friends family waiting to be told if he would have a recovery or if the bleed that had taken place at the stem of his brain had brought his life to an abrupt end.

As I sat with the family waiting for the surgeon to tell us the results of the tests and as I watched the peaceful looking but nonresponsive body of my friend, I realized again how frail we all are. We really do not know what a day will bring. Our best plans can be changed in a second of time, a tragic accident or an unexpected health problem.

Let me challenge you to make every day a good day and fill it with blessing and kindness. Use each day to touch the life of someone so that they can feel the warmth of your friendship and care.

For we truly do not know what a day may bring!

PS.  My friend will make a full recovery  according to the doctor.
